Sponsor the Air Spectacular

THE Air Spectacular in Bray, Co Wicklow, attracts some 80,000 people every summer as the only free to view airshow in the country.

Despite that, it has never had a sponsor. The Air Spectacular is a not-for-profit event, bringing together national and international pilots, aviation enthusiasts and world class aerobatic display teams.

Since 2005 Simtech Ltd has organised the event as part of Bray Summerfest, a month-long festival starting at the beginning of July.

Simtech is an approved training organisation providing training services to airline personnel, career pilots and simulator engineers.

The event, which generates an estimated €275,000 in free publicity, is now looking for a title sponsor. For full details contact: office@engageireland.com

The Jet Set Celebrates Its Sixtieth Birthday
11/01/2012
Aspiring pilots to attend exhibition for sixty years after first commercial jet flight

Sixty years after the first jet airliner carried fare paying passengers, The Professional Flight Training Exhibition, which takes place in Dublin in early March, expects to welcome many young hopefuls looking to pursue a career as a professional pilot. This one day exhibition on how to become an airline pilot will take place on Saturday March 3rd at the Convention Centre Dublin.

In May 1952, the jet engine de Havilland DH 106 Comet left London on the world’s first commercial scheduled service to Johannesburg, South Africa. The flight took twenty three hours and thirty eight minutes. Six decades later, nearly eight hundred million passengers are carried by jet airliners across Europe every year with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing forecasting the need for 448,000 new airline pilots to enter the industry over the next twenty years.

With these future opportunities in mind, the Professional Flight Training Exhibition aims to help prospective pilots understand the requirements, prospects and costs of becoming a fully trained commercial pilot. “The aim of the exhibition is to educate and advise visitors on what is required to become a pilot”, says Darren Ward, Exhibition Manager, “and it is the perfect opportunity for visitors to speak to the airlines, world leading training providers and experts in one venue.”

The exhibition is supported by industry leaders Aer Lingus, UK publication ‘Flyer’, the publication ‘Flying in Ireland’ and Simtech Aviation Training Ltd., a company based in Swords, Co. Dublin that provides training services to the aviation industry. Sé Pardy, Director of Simtech Aviation Training and an active commercial pilot is looking forward to the event. “Working in the aviation industry is a challenging, hugely rewarding experience with opportunities for travel, advancement and excellent remuneration”, says Pardy. “This exhibition is an absolute must for anyone considering a career in this industry as a professional pilot.”

The Professional Flight Training Exhibition will take place at The Convention Centre, Dublin on 3rd March 2012 from 10am to 5pm. Entry is €10 and further details can be found on www.exhibitions.flyer.co.uk
