Award-winning aerobatic pilots will thrill tens of thousands of spectators, who are expected to line Bray seafont for a bird’s eye view of aerobatic loops, pirouette spins, and nose-down spiral descents.

Now the only free air display event taking place in Ireland, this is the fifth consecutive year of the Bray Summerfest Air Spectacular, which is now firmly established as the nation’s most popular air event.

Bray Summerfest and the Simtech organising team are planning a two-hour ‘centenary celebration’ display to mark this year’s 100th anniversary of Irish aviation which will feature aerobatics, search and rescue demonstrations and parachuting from Irish and international acts.

Sé Pardy, the Display Director for Bray Summerfest Air Spectacular 2010, is promising a fun-filled afternoon of aerial entertainment for families at Bray Seafront: “Five time Irish Aerobatic Champion Eddie Goggins is guaranteed to put on a daring display again this year with his knife edge rolls, flat spins and corkscrew maneuvers. We’re also looking forward to seeing the Red Bull Matadors, Gerry Humphreys, Angelo Cunningham and the Twister Duo take to the skies in Bray on July 25th.”

As part of An Garda Síochana’s traffic management plan, spectators are strongly advised to arrive in Bray early and to use the DART or other public transport services to Bray. Further information about the Air Spectacular in Bray, which starts at 3:30pm, is available at www.airspectacular.com.

The Air Spectacular 2010 is one of the main highlights of Bray Summerfest, Ireland’s largest free family festival. Running across six weeks from early July to mid August, the Bray Summerfest programme includes live music, arts, fireworks, funfairs, garden parties, Irish and international crafts and food markets, beach sports and much more. BRAY OPS Frequency for Sunday 119.60 http://www.simtech.ie/index.php/news Record numbers at Air Spectacular Bray http://www.simtech.ie/index.php/news
Part of Bray Summerfest, the 150 minute show was the largest aviation event of its kind in the country and was opened by the Defence Forces, with a parachute drop onto Bray seafront by the Black Knights Display Team.

The tens of thousands of spectators, who had travelled from all over the island of Ireland to the County Wicklow seaside town, were treated to extreme formation aerobatics, search and rescue demonstrations at sea and displays of Irish and US military aircraft.

Five-time Irish Aerobatic Champion, Eddie Goggins, thrilled the crowds with smoke-filled spins, stalls and salmon leaps; the Irish Coast Guard staged a search and rescue demonstration and the Irish Air Corps flew a selection of army helicopters, turbo-prop planes and a maritime patrol plane. The United States Air Force took part in the show again this year, flying a C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft along the east coast.

Aer Lingus marked their 75th anniversary year by displaying the iconic ‘Iolar’ aircraft as well as their ‘RetroJet’ Airbus. CityJet also took part in the air show for the first time this year, which also featured top Irish pilots Gerry Humphreys and Dave Bruton. The high-energy aerobatic displays from the Blades and the RV8Tors from the UK were among the display highlights.

Speaking after the air show, Sé Pardy, the Display Director from Simtech Aviation, said: “This was our most ambitious programme to date and broke all previous spectator records. By staging these world-class air shows, Ireland is strengthening its reputation for aviation excellence around the world.”

Meanwhile back on the ground, plenty of attractions and activities kept spectators entertained before the air show. The Irish Army organized a ground display, alongside the National Microlight Association and Kildare Helicopters.

Bray Summerfest continues until August 7th and the full programme of events is downloadable from www.braysummerfest.com

2011 Irish Aviation Golf Event Birr Golf Course. http://www.simtech.ie/index.php/news Interview Preparation Day a great success at Simtech http://www.simtech.ie/index.php/news The Jet Set Celebrates Its Sixtieth Birthday http://www.simtech.ie/index.php/news
Sixty years after the first jet airliner carried fare paying passengers, The Professional Flight Training Exhibition, which takes place in Dublin in early March, expects to welcome many young hopefuls looking to pursue a career as a professional pilot. This one day exhibition on how to become an airline pilot will take place on Saturday March 3rd at the Convention Centre Dublin.

In May 1952, the jet engine de Havilland DH 106 Comet left London on the world’s first commercial scheduled service to Johannesburg, South Africa. The flight took twenty three hours and thirty eight minutes. Six decades later, nearly eight hundred million passengers are carried by jet airliners across Europe every year with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing forecasting the need for 448,000 new airline pilots to enter the industry over the next twenty years.

With these future opportunities in mind, the Professional Flight Training Exhibition aims to help prospective pilots understand the requirements, prospects and costs of becoming a fully trained commercial pilot. “The aim of the exhibition is to educate and advise visitors on what is required to become a pilot”, says Darren Ward, Exhibition Manager, “and it is the perfect opportunity for visitors to speak to the airlines, world leading training providers and experts in one venue.”

The exhibition is supported by industry leaders Aer Lingus, UK publication ‘Flyer’, the publication ‘Flying in Ireland’ and Simtech Aviation Training Ltd., a company based in Swords, Co. Dublin that provides training services to the aviation industry. Sé Pardy, Director of Simtech Aviation Training and an active commercial pilot is looking forward to the event. “Working in the aviation industry is a challenging, hugely rewarding experience with opportunities for travel, advancement and excellent remuneration”, says Pardy. “This exhibition is an absolute must for anyone considering a career in this industry as a professional pilot.”

The Professional Flight Training Exhibition will take place at The Convention Centre, Dublin on 3rd March 2012 from 10am to 5pm. Entry is €10 and further details can be found on www.exhibitions.flyer.co.uk
